3.1 Establish challenging learning goals & 3.3 Use teaching strategies During my PST placement, I endeavoured to establish challenging goals for my students. Marzano (2015) claims that when designing a learning goal, the educator should first identify the type of knowledge the learning goal addresses. This was achieved by stating a learning intention positioned within one of 3 key areas:
Some of the teaching strategies which were utilised to great effect during this unit included role plays, surveys and shared reading. My knowledge of various learning theories highlighted the need to provide a range of teaching strategies to engage students with different learning preferences. Artifact 1. Each student has different goals they want to achieve and teachers need to acknowledge each goal in order to create a student centred learning environment. This understanding allowed me to develop my lessons and learning activities to support students in achieving their goals and allow me to continuously refine my planning techniques Artifact 2. Many of my students were without access to a computer both in class and at home therefore it became crucial for me to create a number of "all-in-one" resources that students could keep and use both in class and to aid with their homework tasks. One such example is an Anatomy handbook I compiled for use by my year 10 Physical Education classes. artifact 3. pages from a year 10 anatomy resource book I compiled for my students |
